Biography
Angela Rubini was born in Rhodesia and as a young child emigrated to Canada with her parents. As a youngster she was mainly involved with gymnastics at Seneca and the East York Gymnastic Club.
Since 1995, Angela has been involved with the Leaside-East Toronto Soccer Club in a number of activities including running the summer camp program and helping to run the Women’s Adult League.
From 2013-2017, Angela was involved in building, coaching and managing the Leaside – East Toronto Soccer Club’s Competitive Girls Team. Under her guidance and because of her passion for excellence and love of the sport, many extremely good players have emerged.
Team member Kayla Briggs who was recognized by the LSHOF as the Athlete of the Year in 2023, was called up as a player on the Canadian Soccer Associations National Women’s Team three times during 2025, and in 2025 Sarah Rollins another team member was signed by the AFC Toronto Women’s Team in its inaugural season in the new Northern Super League.
Angela has been involved in sports for many years and continues to be involved as a physical education teacher and in coaching multiple sports at Buchanan Elementary School.
