Biography

Peter Dudley lived in Leaside his entire life and played a large part in founding, managing and growing the Leaside Atom Baseball Association (LABA) for children aged 10, 11, and 12. The LABA was established in 1952.

He and Doc Pashby would coach a team called the Leaside Trotters every year. He was actively involved with the LABA including coaching from 1964 onwards.

Peter did everything with the LABA including registration, ordering uniforms, ordering supplies and all the other items needed. Pete was a mentor to many, including helping the players obtain employment later in life.

Peter was a caring and selfless individual. He once said “my goal is to provide the opportunity for every young person in Leaside to have the opportunity to play baseball”. We agree that he accomplished that goal and are proud to induct him into the Leaside Sport Hall of Fame.
