Biography
Tim Ampleford was born and raised in Leaside. He played in the Leaside Baseball Association from the age of 11 through to 21 years of age except for a period of 2 years spent playing professional baseball. He was always an outstanding player both as a pitcher and infielder. Tim was a member of the Leaside team that won the CNE Peewee tournament in 1965, a feat which did not occur again until 2022. In 1971 his Richardsons team won the Ontario Junior AAA Championship.
Over the 9 seasons at Talbot Park Tim was selected as the Most Valuable Player in his age group 4 times, the best pitcher 4 times and leading hitter 4 times. In 1971 he led the league in Home Run hits.
During his last 3 years pitching for Leaside he compiled the following remarkable statistics:

In 1972 and 1973 Tim played for the Bradenton Pirates in the Florida Gulf Coast League. Over the 2 seasons he won 6 lost 3 with an outstanding ERA of 2.05.
Tim also played hockey for Leaside, Markham Waxers, Weston Dodgers, York University, Dayton Gems (IHL), Dundas Merchants and Georgetown Raiders, the last 2 clubs in OHA Senior hockey and was a prolific goal scorer at each level.
