Biography

Zach Edey was a multi-sport player who grew up in Leaside playing hockey for the Leaside Flames and baseball with Leaside Baseball. As a AAA pitcher, he was scouted by the University of Alabama.

In Grade 10 his multi-sport skills translated onto the basketball court and he quickly picked up the game.

Starting his play in October of 2017, Zach was very soon noticed by the Northern Kings basketball program who quickly brought him into their program. In April, 2018, only 6 months after starting to play, Zach was recruited to play for the U17 Team Canada.

Zach was asked to, and did attend, IMG Academy in Florida for grades 11 and 12 and after being offered scholarships by many schools chose Purdue University. Once there he showed he was on track when he was named an all-star when playing for Canada in the under 19 world championships – his first experience playing for Canada internationally.

More recently Zach has been chosen to represent Canada on the senior men’s team being coached by Nick Nurse. The team is attempting to qualify for the Olympics in 2024. Zach is the only collegian on the team.
