Biography
Kayla Briggs started playing soccer at the age of 4 with Leaside-East Toronto Soccer Club, and hockey at the age 5 with Leaside Hockey Association. She played both sports competitively with these clubs, as a Leaside Tiger from 8 to 12 yrs old, and as a Leaside AA Flames from 9 to 12 yrs old (Captain for one season). Kayla also excelled in long distance running, winning cross country at TCDSB City Championship on three occasions during elementary school.
For the past two years, Kayla has put all her focus into soccer. This past winter, as a member of the North Toronto Nitros U17 OPDL soccer team, Kayla was invited to join Ontario’s National Development Centre (NDC). NDC provides top youth female players (U14-U18) centralized, daily training as a part of Canada Soccer’s Long-Term Player Development program. This is where she currently trains five days a week. Throughout her athletic career Kayla has continued to follow a full academic program throughout high school.
Kayla’s recent soccer accomplishments include: 2022 League 1 Ontario champions, gold medalist as a member of Team Ontario at the Niagara 2022 Canada Games, and, this past month, represented her country as a member of Canada Soccer Women’s U-17 squad at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India.
